5 Power Yoga Poses To Help You Lose Weight

Awaken

Yoga has many dedicated fans but the big question here is can yoga help you lose weight? Experts seem to agree this is a good approach but yoga practices are not created equal. Here are some of the poses you can use to speed up your metabolism and enhance those weight loss efforts.

Sun Salutations

A yoga staple, this pose is an ideal choice for fat loss.

This is a complex move that involves a big number of muscles. As a result, you will be getting a full body workout. Balance and coordination are improved as an added benefit of practicing the pose.

Sun salutations are an excellent stretching choice for the beginning or the end of a workout session.

The Warrior Pose

This is another yoga staple. The warrior pose is relatively simple and it doesn’t require a lot of experience in order to be practiced. Just like the previous entry, it’s an excellent choice for improving your balance and coordination.

When done correctly, the warrior pose exercises the legs, the back and the arms. It improves circulation and enhances your metabolism.

Half Boat Pose

Half boat ranks among the more challenging yoga poses because it requires some core strength in order to be performed properly. If you want to lose 10kg in one month without efforts, however, you will have to go down an alternative path.

When you learn how to do the pose, you will feel those abdominal muscles “screaming.” Not only is the pose going to tone you, it will also force the body to work harder and contribute to some weight loss.

The pose is also great because you can use your body position to change the intensity. If you lean to the back and increase the angle, you will find the pose much more challenging.

Side Plank

Planking has pretty much become the next hot thing today and the best aspect is that multiple variations exist. The side plan is a great choice for individuals interested in toning their body and weight loss at the same time.

Side plank is another pose that’s best for intermediate to advanced practitioners because it requires proper form. To get to this one, you will first have to master the regular plank – another pose that has multiple benefits, including the strengthening of the core muscles.

For best results, build up to holding the pose for 30 seconds and releasing.

Crow Pose

If you’re a next-level yoga practitioner, try the crow pose. This is probably the most challenging entry in the list but it can burn a heck of a lot of calories. Keep in mind that if you do not exercise regularly or you don’t have any yoga experience, the pose is one to avoid.

The crow pose is also excellent because it tones the arms and increases their strength – after all, they have to support the entire body.

Those first attempts will involve bent arms and attempts to balance your body. Advanced yogis can straighten their arms completely when doing the crow pose and they can hold it for a certain period of time. With perseverance and regular exercise, you can accomplish the same.

Yoga is certainly worth it because it produces an array of important health benefits. It strengthens the body and makes your muscles leaner. It enhances your immune response. It also has a fat loss benefit and if you begin an effective nutritional plan alongside your practice, you will see even better results.
