by Jessica Sommerfield: When was the last time you had a good workout?
Exercising for most people is not a fun activity. It is especially more difficult when you are at middle-age.
This is because; aging is also accompanied with loss of energy. But did you know that the more we age, the more exercise we need?
Here are some tips to help you work out more at home:
- You can schedule your workout with a gym instructor or personal trainer. An instructor will not only help you stay motivated but also learn the correct ways of performing the workouts.
- Buying work out DVD’s.
- Streaming Classes are ideal for working out in the comfort of you home.
- Buying training equipment example jump ropes, kettle bells, resistance bands, heavy bag and weights.
Some of the best exercises for middle-aged people include:
- Cardio exercise- This helps you lose fat and burn calories.
- Weight training- It helps you build muscle and strength example, dumbbells.
- High intensity work outs-These include resistance band interval training, kettle bell work outs, kick boxing styled exercises and sprints.
- Walking- walking is the best exercise for anyone. You can try walking at least for one mile or more. To make it fun, you can walk with a friend or even your dog.In addition, you can avoid the escalator and elevator and chose to take the stairs to your office. Doing this at least two times a week is a good workout for your entire body.
Physical fitness at times makes it necessary to change your lifestyle. It involves:
- Watching what you eat. You should avoid eating fried foods and take more vegetables and fruits. Avoid sugary food and take healthy carbohydrates such as rice.
- Drink plenty of water especially when you are exercising.
- Stress weakens your immune system; you should try to avoid it.
- Have a more active lifestyle; this involves walking, swimming, playing tennis or dancing. Fun activities are not only good for the body but also boost your mood.
So how do you motivate yourself to exercise more?
Think of the benefits of a good workout. As you grow older, it is likely that you will develop belly fat. Belly fat doesn’t look attractive to most people. Your body loses muscle mass. Your muscles do not function as well as they used to and at times, fatty tissue enters the muscle tissues.
When this happens, you experience a reduction in strength.
But the good news is that establishing a regular exercise plan can gain back your youth. You can build muscle tissue, increase your metabolism and gain back your energy. The only thing you need is to be committed to yourself and your training plan.
Regular exercises, eating a well balanced diet, learning to love and laugh are the best kept secrets to a happy and fulfilling life.
