by Dr. Michael Beckwith: Life is in a love relationship with itself. It is this undercurrent of Divine Love that sustains all spheres of existence and stimulates our individual desire to give and receive love.
This is about cultivating your ability to offer unconditional love, beginning with your relationship with yourself, extending it to your loved ones, then expanding it to include all of humanity and the Earth.
The blessing in relationships is that they mirror back to us our more evolved qualities as well as our neuroses. Relationships are places we grow together in mutual support. They bring us closer to the truth of who we are so we can choose spiritual growth.
As you seek to become your most authentic self, a deep appreciation and respect arises for all that is shared and exchanged within the relationship, whether it be with your spouse, your child, your boss, your best friend, or someone you work with.
When your relationships are healthy, you no longer seek relationships to make you happy. Instead, you bring your happiness to your relationships. You are no longer a one way street with all the arrows pointing towards “me.”
Instead of asking, “Where can I find someone to love me?” you being to ask, “How can I radiate more love into my relationships?”
We are here to learn how to swim together in an ocean of joy, selflessness, integrity, cooperation, collaboration, in short – oneness. With this mature perspective your relationships stop being places where you seek to make a deal or manipulate another person into giving you what you think you want.
Instead, relationships becomes places where we grow together through mutual support. You forgive yourself. You let go. You forgive the other person. You offer more love.
Learning how to love unconditionally is a practice. It requires patience and repetition in order to succeed. This is why we as spiritual practitioners take up a daily meditation practice. It is where we evolve and go higher.
Today, start with yourself by asking, “What is truly lovable about me?” And celebrate those things right now. Remember, God is already celebrating you and everything about you every moment.
