by Gary Zukav: Authenticity is now a requirement of our evolution. 
It means a genuine, real, down-to-bedrock, can’t-be-denied expression of all that is grounded, wholesome, and healthy. “Authentic” means loving because no other experience of ourselves or others is grounded, wholesome, and healthy. Romantic love is not authentic because it is not grounded. It floats on images of one another that are not real. The reality of our self returns, and the reality of the other appears, when “the honeymoon is over.” That is when both fearful parts of each (such as anger, jealousy, need to drink) and loving parts of each (such as gratitude, patience, caring) become visible and opportunities to become grounded, wholesome, and healthy begin.
Anger is not authentic because it is an expression of fear and powerlessness. It can be genuine anger (fear), but it can never be grounded, wholesome, and healthy. The need to overeat, drink, watch pornography, use drugs, and gamble are genuine cravings, but they also originate in fear – they are flights from pain. Becoming authentic is the same as becoming powerful. This is the new perception that comes with the expansion of our awareness beyond the limitations of the five senses. Authentic power is the alignment of the personality with the soul, the experience of being in the right time at the right place with the right person always, engaged and engaging, content, and joyful. It can be created deliberately, and in fact, it can only be created deliberately. It requires emotional awareness (so we can distinguish between love and fear within us) and responsible choice (so we can choose love, even when want to choose fear, for example, when we are angry, jealous, despairing, etc.)
Creating authentic power is the way and the goal of our evolution. No other goal or way can now satisfy. Temporary happiness is the best that we can attain without authentic power. Fulfillment and joy now call us more strongly than accomplishment and happiness, and they require experiencing and changing within ourselves all that is not loving and experiencing and cultivating within ourselves all that is loving. That creates authenticity. That is the creation of authentic power.
