Ajna Chakra

 Awaken

It is relating to our spirit, to our deepest self and to the information we receive from the universe around us. The sixth chakra, Ajna Chakra, is about connection to this guidance to feel the source of life.

The sixth chakra is also called the Brow Chakra or the Third eye Chakra, and it is located behind the centre of the forehead. This chakra sees both the inner and the outer worlds, and it helps us to understand what we see, and to act with compassion towards ourselves and others.

Ajna means to perceive, and the element of this chakra is light. It is symbolized by a purple and dark blue lotus flower with two petals. It is linked with our intuition, and it allows us to receive clear thoughts and spiritual self reflections. It supports our inner wisdom and essentially connects us to the Source. When the Ajna chakra is balanced, we can see clearly and feel the purpose of our lives. We can feel a certain guidance in our lives and we can see past the illusions of unhelpful patterns we may have.

When the Ajna Chakra is imbalanced

When the Ajna Chakra is overactive, one can have strong psychic visions, which can make one lose the sense of the physical world. The feeling of being grounded can be lost, and one might also be scared of the visions that are coming constantly, as they can make one feel overwhelmed and even delusional.

With a weak Ajna Chakra one tends to be more analytical, and not really open or understanding the spiritual side of life. One also tends to worry and imagine the worst case scenarios in life. It may be difficult to feel any guidance from within, which can lead to lack of direction in life.

On a physical level the sixth chakra is connected with the sinuses, eyes and ears. An imbalanced chakra can cause headaches, sinus infections and problems with the eyes.

Balancing the Ajna Chakra How connected do you feel to something beyond yourself? Is it easy for you to tap into your inner source of intuition and feel how your soul would like to live?

To balance the Ajna Chakra, take some time to get playful and open. When we get too serious in life, we may close off the intuition and the guidance from the soul. So try to give the analytical mind its time and place, and as balance, enjoy some creative activities whenever you can!

Alternate nostril breathing can be a great way to balance the two hemispheres in the brain. It will calm the mind and bring you back to the present moment. Start by closing the right nostril with your right hand’s thumb, and breathing in through the left nostril. Block the left nostril with your right hand’s ring finger, and breathe out from the right nostril. Breathe in again through the right nostril, block the right and exhale through the left. Continue for 5-7 rounds.

Additionally Yoga Nidra, Meditation and Reiki are helpful in balancing the Ajna chakra.

To further strengthen this intuitive chakra, remind yourself: I am connected with my inner source. I trust my intuition. I am open to inspiration that comes from the Universe.
