The Holistic Technique Hillary Clinton Used To Bounce Back From Her 2016 Election Loss

This week, Hillary Rodham Clinton released her first post-election book, What Happened, which is exactly what it sounds like…

A detailed look at exactly what went wrong in her race against President Donald Trump.

But it’s not all politics. Clinton also dives into her own coping mechanisms, and one of them has been a combination of yoga and alternate nostril breathing, and. And when Anderson Cooper asked her about it on national television, she was more than happy to demonstrate her favorite breathing technique.

“I would highly recommend it,” Clinton explains. “You’re supposed to shut your eyes—I don’t want to shut my eyes on national television—but you do hold [your nostril] and breathe through one, and you hold it and then you exhale to the other and you keep going.”

She added, “I can only say from my personal experience that if you’re sitting cross-legged on the yoga mat, and you’re doing it, and you’re really trying to inhale and hold it, and then have a long exhale, it is very relaxing.”

There’s no question that breathwork is having a moment, and this year’s revitalize saw inspiring talks about the power of breath with Andrew Huberman, Ph.D., a neuroscientist and studies breathing and its relationship to stress response with VR equipment, Brian Mackenzie, an athletic performance coach, and Ashley Neese, a spiritual counselor, meditation guide, and breathwork teacher.

The consensus? Breathwork is the next frontier of the wellness movement. So if you don’t have a practice, it’s time to get started.
