The Day the World Changed
On the morning of September 11, 2001, Chris was in Toronto, Canada on his way to a meeting at the Royal Bank of Canada. As he and his colleagues got up from breakfast in the Royal York hotel in downtown Toronto, they saw a picture on TV of a plane flying into the World Trade Center and exploding in an inferno of flames.
There was no sound on the TV and the picture they had seen seemed so unreal, they decided it must have been an advertisement for some new movie. Only two hours later when their training was stopped did they realize the truth. Every major building in Toronto was evacuated, all flights in and out of city were cancelled and Chris spent the next week in Canada watching rerun after rerun of the devastating events of that fateful day.
Janet went in to work as usual that morning. As she was getting out of her car, she saw a colleague sobbing in the parking lot. Soon she knew the whole story. She went inside and the whole staff was in tears. She met with everyone and then spent the rest of the day organizing groups around the U.S. to support the victims of the events that changed the course of life in the U.S. and in many places around the world.
From Millionaire Eagles to Enlightened Millionaire Program
A few weeks before 9/11 we had finalized our partnership with Mark Victor Hansen and Robert G. Allen. We were creating a mentoring program called “The Millionaire Eagles” as part of the launch of their book, The One Minute Millionaire: The Enlightened Way to Wealth
In the weeks that followed Janet talked to people throughout the U.S. about creating wealth and found most people weren’t very interested in a program to become a millionaire in the aftermath of the most devastating terrorist attack in U.S. history. She also found that she herself had a hard time getting very excited about creating millionaires in the post 9/11 world.
“Then in December, when I was in Washington, DC with Mark and Bob, Bob mentioned his desire to create ‘enlightened millionaires’ and everything shifted.” Janet says. She came home and immediately insisted that Chris change their website and all their materials to talk about creating enlightened millionaires and what that meant.
From that day on, our mentoring program took off. The idea of creating wealth that benefits both oneself and the world resonated with everyone we talked to. As we continued to develop the idea of enlightened wealth with Mark and Bob their book changed radically. When it was finally released the full title had become: The One Minute Millionaire: The Enlightened Way to Wealth

An enlightened millionaire always sees the world as abundant. They know that the only limit to the amount of wealth, which can be created, is creativity, and since there is no limit to creativity, there is no limit to the creation of wealth. The enlightened millionaire always creates value and creates relationships in which everyone wins. They know they are a custodian of the wealth they receive with a responsibility to use it not only for their own benefit, but also for the benefit of their society and the world.
