The Difference Between Your Higher Self and Your False Self

by Luminita Daniela Saviuc: Have you ever notice how blissful and how content little children are?

How they run around from place to place, curious to discover more about themselves and the world they live in, projecting their innocence and their inexhaustible love onto everything and everyone around them?

It is said that children smile on average 400 times a day, adults about 20 times a day. Ever wondered why?

Ever wonder why little children are so happy and so content when most of adults aren’t?

You see, when you are true to yourself and when you live life from an authentic place, you can’t help but be happy, cheerful, content and loving at all times, free as a child. Children are a clean slate with a pure mind, body, heart and soul. This is what it takes to be fully connected with your real and authentic self; this is what it takes to be blissful.

Only the truth of who you are, if realized, will set you free. — Eckhart Tolle

There is a big difference between your authentic self and your ego, the false self, and today I will share with you the difference between

1. Bliss vs. struggle

Bliss is the natural core of our being and whenever we are not aligned with our real and authentic self, whenever we allow our ego — the false self — to take over us, life becomes a struggle.

Nothing is more important than reconnecting with your bliss. Nothing is as rich. Nothing is more real. — Deepak Chopra

2. Love vs. fear

Have no fear, for there is nothing you can’t do. Your work, your beauty and your precious gifts are all in your heart, they are all within you. Do the things you fear doing, with love, and the fear will disappear. Love more, fear less.

There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and openhearted vision of people who embrace life. — John Lennon

3. Trust vs. doubt

The real you is never in doubt. It always trusts and it always takes good care of you, making you feel safe, loved and protected at all times.

The more you trust in yourself, those around you and life itself, the stronger the authentic self becomes, the better life gets and the happier you feel. The more you doubt, the stronger the false self gets and the harder life becomes.

The caterpillar trusts his maker that all is well. He does not cling to his old garment and thus is transformed into a magnificent butterfly. There is no pain, it is a natural transmutation. So it is with us. As the chrysalis is the bridge between caterpillar and butterfly, so is True perception the bridge between separation and Oneness. We are transmuting into a new state of Being. Clinging to our caterpillar stage, our old ways of judgment, we shall never learn to fly into the dawn of a new day. — Peter Erbe

4. Abundance vs. lack

The authentic self is abundant in nature while the false self is constantly focusing on what is missing, what is lacking. Focus on the lack and you will attract more lack, focus on the abundance that is present within you and all around you, and you will attract more and more of it.

Work on being true to yourself and you will be able to enjoy the many beautiful gifts life has to offer.

5. Oneness vs. separation

Every time you think of yourself as being more or less valuable than another person, you step away from who you really are, you create a false identity for yourself.

We are all connected, all one and whenever you act in unloving ways towards others, you are in fact acting in unloving ways towards yourself.

Why struggle to open a door between us when the whole wall is an illusion?  Rumi

6. Presence vs. absence

The authentic knows that you can only be happy if you are living in the present moment. As a result, it is always accepting and content with what is. The real you knows where it wants to go, has a clear vision of the future, but it’s always present in the now.

The false self on the other hand is constantly preoccupied with the past and the future, using the present moment to dream and regret about the past or to worry/ fantasize about the future.

As soon as you honor the present moment, all unhappiness and struggle dissolve, and life begins to flow with joy and ease. When you act out the present-moment awareness, whatever you do becomes imbued with a sense of quality, care, and love — even the most simple action. — Eckhart Tolle

7. Meaning vs. ambition

When the ego takes over, we brag about how competitive, ambitious and much better than everyone else we are. Instead of helping each other we use one another.

We care more about money, power and control than we do about living a purposeful, loving and fulfilling life.

If you are driven by power and ambition, you are living life from an inauthentic place. Even though you might think you are in control, the truth of the matter is that you aren’t, your ego is. You are being controlled and owned by your ego.

Power over others is weakness disguised as strength. — Eckhart Tolle

We all come to this world to fulfill a purpose, a calling and not to make lots of money.

Money is a bonus, a byproduct of doing what you love.

Don’t confuse your false self with your real and authentic self. Allow your light to shine on to the world. Put your ego on the side and decide to get back to yourself, back to living a blissful, purposeful and happy life.

Become aware of these differences. Promise yourself to focus on the good that is present in you and all around you. By doing so you will eventually get back to yourself, back to being authentic and back to living a blissful, abundant and loving life.

The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are. C.G. Jung
